Hey there Reader :)

Hope you're doing great this morning! This week was my first "calm" one in a while: not sick, no wedding, no convention to prepare, it felt great! I'm enjoy it while it last 😄

Today I have some surprise for you guys, as well as progress on my next illustration :)

It's gonna be a chill one, let's start!

Here’s how you can get my 5 meters long zine! 🎁

Yes! If you remember last week, I told you about the absurdly long zine that I put together at my last convention :)

Well, since I have a copy left, I decided that it would be fun to give this one away! Usually it’s a print I give away, but let’s switch it up this time.

If you’re interested and would want to have a chance to receive it as a gift, please click on this link! This is opt-in only!

This zine is a improved version of my Inktober project that you can find on my website: It's a city tour guide of my fictional city, with a lot of cleanup, corrected and improved descriptions, and a map at the very end!

I don’t think I’ll put it up for sale online any time soon (if ever, those take sooo long to make), so this is the only way to get it for now 😄 Just a little gift to thank you for following this Newsletter!

The giveaway is opt-in for all subscribers to this newsletter, so if you’re interested please feel free to click this link!

That’s it, now let’s go back to the program!

A new fanart is on the way ⛏️

Here is what I’m working on right now! My last illustration was the first one in a series of “fake videogame screenshot”, where I illustrate imaginary games in my style :)

Now the next one I wanted to do actually didn’t really fit this definition already, because it’s clearly a Minecraft fanart as you can tell!

I'm sure like a lot of you this game has a special place in my heart, it's even directly tied to my art growth in many ways :) I'll tell you more about it next week!

I was super excited to finally get to this illustration, here is how the first sketch looked like:

I wanted to have it done for my last convention, but I completely ran out of time with everything I had to prepare… but it’s alright, I wouldn’t want to rush it! Inking took a while here; even tho I always use the same canvas and brush size, I very consistently see that the further you can see the longer it will be to complete 😄 It’s hard packing all the details!

But at long last, I finally managed to push through and finished the lineart! And now I just put together the color blocks, my next step will be to adjust all of it and add the light and shadows :)

I really hope I’ll be able to convey the scale I have in mind for this scene! Can’t wait to show you next time!

Progress on the studio!

In case you’re wondering, here is how our studio is doing so far :)

About a month ago (right before my wedding actually) I announced that with my partner and our friend we are now renting and renovating a studio, in order to store our suplies and host classes.

That's how it was a month ago!

It’s not yet open, but clearly taking shape: after painting the walls we finally have a table, chairs, and even paint!

It’s not finished yet, but there was already one individual lesson there already! Hopefully we should be able to have groups relatively soon.

Painting by Ada :)

This weekend we also spray painted some decoration in a legal graffiti zone, super cool place!

Someone asked us if it was some kind of new graffiti technique

Kinda made me want to dabble into making a mural, maybe I’ll have time for it somedays :)

We are not yet officially open but it’s getting close! I’ll let you know next time I have a cool update to share!

Art that inspired me this week

  • I forgot to mention it last time but I got this very cool print from Papatu at my last convention! I actually found this artwork years ago on Pinterest and even probably redrew it in my sketchbook, without knowing at all who made it :) Now it sits proudly next to my desk!

  • Julia Tar - The Druid, absolutely astonish work inspired by D&D (there is more than just this one!)

  • This artwork by pixelartist Nyura Kim ✨

Alright, this was a short one today, I hope that's alright for you 🙂‍↕️
Please don't forget to click on the link to join the 5 meters long zine giveaway! I doesn't cost you anything, and I just like to do this for fun :)

In any case, please have a great rest of your week, I'll see you soon!

Take care,
- Nighten
