Hey there Reader!

It's getting cold, isn't it? With this and Christmas coming, it's been a very busy week for me; not only did I have to make progress on the book, but I also made some art gifts for my friends! I'll tell you more in today's issue.

But first, here's something that made me smile this week: while sending the last giveaway print, it hit me: this is the last one of the year, and also the third since the Newsletter Club launched!

I'm excited for the year to come for this Newsletter; it's really been a joy so far, and I thank you very much for being part of this journey. As always ❤️

We are starting fresh on the giveaway next month :)

Ink by Ink ✒️ We're Half-Way There!

Time for our usual book report!

This week was very busy (which is why this issue is sent a bit later than usual), but I managed to ink 2 new illustrations, as well as color 2 more from the previous week :)

And it turns out, I realized, that on the ink part we are halfway done! 7 out of 14 illustrations have been inked, and very soon the same amount will be in color as well.

This made me very hopeful to see the book completion early into the next year; because once the inking is done, I'll have way more time to spare for the other tasks. Drawing all those little details takes a ton of time!

One thing that motivates me each time I make progress on one image is seeing the result in the actual book. The software I use to put it together detects and loads changes made to the files very easily, so I can already get a sense of how the book will feel when finished!

Here, have a peek ✨

Sorry for the low quality, gifs are heavy!

smol paintings for Christmas 🖼️

A few weeks ago, I shared with you an acrylic painting I finally took time to finish. It was my first one ever! And shortly after, I showed you another one.

I'm a digital artist (and person) first and foremost, so waiting for paint to dry and not using a color picker is still very alien to me.

But despite this, I decided to give myself a little challenge and make small canvases for my friends; we had a Santa party, so it was the perfect opportunity to pull out the acrylics again!

Now, here's the catch: the paint I used wasn't the best in class, to say the least. Mixing colors is hard but even trickier when you have to account for the layer underneath showing through 😅

Some are better than others, but at least they were all happy about this little gift :)

And it was nice to take a step away from the screen; I already use it for my day job, my entertainment, and all my projects, and that's why I think I'll continue to paint, just for fun 🌸

That's all for this week Reader! Next time we'll dive back into more book illustrations, and I most likely will have some other art to show you ;) You'll see!

In the meantime, enjoy the season and, as always,

Take care,
- Nighten
